2 Years

It's hard to believe that it was two years ago today that my dad lost his battle with cancer. Not a day goes by that I don't think of him and miss him.

We got back last Monday from our Thanksgiving trip to Arizona.

Weed Work

Okay, due in part to the beautiful weather we are having here in Colorado today I decided to blog a blip about yard work.

Now we are not complete strangers to yard work, since we did rent a home last year, but a person can easily forget just how much work it takes.

We do not have out yard in as of yet, but that is the major plan this summer!

I did get my bootie outside this morning to try to maintain some of the grass/weedlands that have taken over the back and sides of my house. I was out there with shovel in hand digging up the weeds. Now I know most of you have 2 words in mind - ROUND-UP!!

Yes that was the intial plan, but due to the vast amount of weeds I decided to tackle them with the shovel first, and follow up with weed killer for 2 dumb reasons: 1- to get some amount of exercise (yes, a super lame excuse) and 2- I needed the sunshine!! I just love the sunshine!

So the plan is to add an uncovered deck to our patio, and get the backyard and fence in by the end of this summer. We will keep things updated as they happen, so be sure to check back!!

Jumping Cholla

Hey Neet! Isaac thought it was pretty cool when this part of the jumping cholla got stuck in David's finger. We never got it planted, but Isaac likes to pull it out and show anyone that will look, and just likes to watch it. He knows it's much to dangerous to touch.

BOOKWORM

With a brand new library practically across the street I have been reading a lot! I love to read! I borrowed a few more James Patterson novels, but most recently I borrowed "Twilight" by Stephenie Meyer from a friend. A lot of the ladies at my church have read the books (it's the first in a 3 book series if you didn't know) and have been raving about them a TON. So I thought I would see what all the hype was about.

The book started out REAL SLOW and I was about ready to put it aside but was promised that it would get better and by golly it did! I have to say it wasn't quite the romantic heart stopper that I was lead to believe that it would be but it was a very good, descriptive book. Needless to say I await being able to read how the saga of Bella and Edward will continue and finish.

In the meantime I started reading "The Other Boleyn Girl" by Philippa Gregory. It is a very slow read so far but it is good. Knowing some but little about the history of King Henry VIII it is interesting to read this authors fictional take on what went on behind the scenes. I've read 220 of 661 pages so I still have a lot to read...

Who eats more? I'd say we are even...neither of us eat much

Who's taller? David: 5' 9"....Me: 5' 6".....he is by 3"
Who can sing better? Well, since David doesn't ever sing, I am left to assume that by default, I am the better singer.
Who is smarter? I have to say that he is (more) smarter, but I have the better memory with things that don't tend to come out of a textbook
Who does the laundry? Mostly me! I prefer it that way. David does do it occasionaly though
Who pays the bills? I write the check, but he makes the money to pay them .
Who sleeps on the right side? Depends on which way you are looking at the bed. If you're laying the bed, I sleep on the right.
Who mows the lawn? I do. I love to! David wants to but I don't like to let him.
Who cooks dinner? We both do. I try to have dinner on the table when David gets home, but he likes to cook too.
Who drives? David does. I can't stand listening to him tell me how to drive.
Who is more stubborn? Ya know, I used to say me. But, I have learned that he is just as stubborn as I am - just about different things.
Who kissed who first? David kissed me first, during our second date during my favorite movie.
Who asked who out first? I asked him out first - fruit salad...remember Destiny?
Who proposed? David did. Panda Express holds a very special place in my heart.
Who has more friends? I do, but David will have time for more when he's done with school.

Focus on Fitness 2008

For most of us the start of a new year means setting new goals, whatever they may be. This year is going to be the year of fitness for me. I started working out at the gym that just opened up by my house last weekend.

My goal is to lose those last 10 pounds. I read about this site on a friends blog (thanks Destiny) and decided to check it out. I ended up creating my own "Spark Page" and it's amazing. You can put in your workout, what you're eating, basically anything to do with fitness. So for those of you who also have a fitness goal for 2008, check it out!!

Girls' Nite Out!!

@ Estes Park

A few of the ladies that David works with invited me to a girls nite. We went to Estes Park, spent the night and went shopping the next day. Then David and the kids came up and we spent another night. It is so beautiful there! Thanks so much to Kim and her family for the fun weekend!!

Christmas Lights

Okay, so you can barely tell, but David put up Christmas lights along the roof of the house, we have a wreath, and we have a landing strip for Santa Clause. We plan to put a few more lights up this weekend.

Toyaholics

After checking out a couple toy stores, the kids were worn out. Isaac and Griffin (who goes just about everywhere with us lately) crashed in the backseat. Briana, who's daddy gave her the adorable CHEETO'S face that she's sporting, was deep in thought in the backseat thinking about all the dollies and toys that she saw. She was still thinking about the dolly strollers that she pushed all the way through each store and screamed over when we took them away to leave. We know what Santa needs to bring her!!!

First Snow of 2007

Yep, it's the anticipated yet dreaded 4-letter S word!! We woke up to snow this morning. It's not much but it was sticking. Isaac thought it was Christmas and has been asking to put up the tree and make santa cookies. We will have plenty of time for that in the next few weeks!!

So I am not normally one to buy them, but when I saw this cake on the cover of a magazine I couldn't resist. Now granted mine doesn't look quite as perfect as the one on the mag, but pretty darn close and boy did it taste DELICIOUS!!!!

This was my very first cake made from scratch and I will be making it again for sure!!

Amma & Grampa- My mommy took me shopping for new clothes with the money that you sent me for my birthday. We had lots of fun and got some real cute stuff! I got 3 outfits, 3 shirts and a new dress for church. Thank You!!

David finished staining the chairs this past weekend, and I re-upholstered the cushions. They look great and we love the color that we chose. They will go great in our new home.
