Snow Day 2009

Who'd Have Guessed It's Actually SPRING???

They forecasted snow and boy were they right this time!! It came and came FAST!! Isaac had his first snow day from school, and David was came home from work. David and the kids decided to make the most of it this afternoon, and bundled up to brave the out-of-doors. Unfortunately it was too powdery to make a snowman. I decided to stay in and make some hot cocoa instead.

Abuelito 1929 - 2009

David's grandfather Raul Vilugron who lived in Brazil passed away a week ago Sunday. We just wanted to pay tribute to a great loving man. I only met him once, but he was nothing but sweet to me. Our thoughts and prayers are with Abuelita, Amma, and the rest of the family.

Life Is Busy...Life Is Beautiful !!

So I haven't updated the blog in a while. Things have been pretty busy around here.
For those who may not know, David has completed his Masters Thesis, and is set to graduate from San Diego State University in May (YEAH!!!). His thesis is amazing! I only read a few pages of it, and only understood about 2%, but 2 of the professors told him that his is one of THE BEST theses that they have ever read!! (I think he deserves to be bragged about, he has work so hard for the past 6 months on the darn thing) He is planning on walking in California, so we are going to be going down there, and celebrating with a trip to Disneyland, Sea World, and the works!!
As for me, I have been busy as well. I have been working as the Crossing Guard for Black Rock Elementary, and also have a job part-time at Walmart. I love it! It's a no stress, easy going, fun job that gets me out of the house a couple nights a week. I get that much needed adult conversation, I have met a few friends already, and the extra income sure doesn't hurt!!

Money Earned Payed For Something He Really Wanted

Isaac has a chore chart and earns money for things every day. Well he has been saving up that money for months now to buy these Night Vision Goggles. He was so excited when he finally had enough money to buy them! We went to Walmart and he paid for them himself.
David and I both remember the first thing that we each saved up our hard-earned money to buy when we were kids. It was a neat feeling as a parent to see Isaac dedicate himself to save up for something he really wanted at such a young age. What a big boy!

Bomberman Buddies

Isaac and Briana played Bomberman for about an hour the other day. Briana mostly just held the controller, but she loves hanging out with her big brother!

Briana Randomness

Just a few cute pictures of Briana over the past few weeks. She is such a photogenic child that we love to take pictures of her. (My goal is to be rid of the binky by the end of the summer)

Library Day

Yeah! I finally remembered to bring my camera to school on my volunteer day!!!!!
Every Friday Isaac's class has library day. They sit in their assigned seats, and the librarian, Mrs Andras reads them a book. Today it was "Green Eggs and Ham". Afterward they get to choose a book to take home for a week. Isaac (and most of the boys in the class) usually bring home non-fiction books. Airplanes and Natural Disaster books are Isaac's favorites.

Kids

Briana wanted me to take a picture of her with her "kids". They are her babies. Their names are: Curious George, Lovsey, Baby Pooh Bear, and Baby Flora (my Cabbage Patch Kid from when I was little). She sleeps with all of them (and sometimes more) EVERY night, and when she travels anywhere at least 1 of them goes with her.

Sink or Float???

Isaac conducted his first science experiment yesterday, with his dad's help. The experiment was to build a boat out of aluminum foil and guess how many pennies it would take to make it sink, then put pennies in until it sinks and record how many it did take and record whether your guess was more or less than the actual number. He thought that was cool. He's definitely got a lot of David's genes when it comes to science!

Little Mommy

Briana loves babies (as long as I am not holding them for too long). We had the opportunity to babysit my friend's kids the other day, (I still owe you big time Carrie!) and she has a 3 month old little boy. Briana just LOVES baby "Rody" (his name is Brody). She was so excited to hep out! She tried to help change his bum, and she begged to feed him his bottle. She will make a very good mommy some day!
