Uncle Brian & the School BusWe went with Nana and her foster kids to the zoo. I took hardly any pictures, but I HAD to get some of the kids drinking out of the lion drinking fountains that they have had there since I can remember.

Papa & Nana's FarmhouseLet me tell you the story of the lettuce.
Nana said that last year when her and Papa were planting their garden they decided to grow some lettuce. Well, Papa opened the package of seeds and dumped some of them into the ground. The wind picked up just then and blew the seeds away. He went in and told Nana that he was sorry, but the wind picked up and blew the seeds away.
Well this past March Papa passed away. As the weather got nicer and things started to bloom Nana was wondering what weeds were growing so fast along her driveway on the side of the house (the opposite side of the garden mind you). She soon realized that it was lettuce and not weeds that were growing. The lettuce that they thought was lost had planted in various places around the backyard as well as in the garden. She feels as though it is Papa saying to her "Hey! I'm still here!!"
Papa's Headstone We walked out to the Fairview City Cemetery to see Papa's newly placed headstone. I think a part of it all really sunk in for me seeing the stone. Nana did a great job with it. Papa loved camping, fishing and hunting. He would be pleased!

That is a beautiful headstone...she really did do a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteYou'll have to tell Mom she can't add any more kids to the group now it is set in stone. It was great to see you and the kids.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful time you had with your mom, I am sure your father is watching over her very closely.
ReplyDeleteShe is an amazing person.
The headstone is very nice, what a great tribute to a great man.
I do want to go to Beckys house, that slide looks like a lot of fun!
I am so happy that the children had a chance to enjoy extended family time.
We miss you.
Love, mamita
